Gailu

A trio from Andoain (Gipuzkoa) made up of brothers Okene (vocals, samplers) and Mikel Txopeitia (drums) alongside bassist Xabier Olazabal 'Drake'. Their origins date back to the late 90s, with the debut EP Kutxa beltza (2002), though the project lay dormant for nearly two decades. Veterans of the Basque underground — having passed through Bap!!, Inoren Ero Ni, Negu Gorriak and Anari — they revived Gailu before the pandemic with a genre-defying sound blending hip-hop, punk, electronics, trip-hop and Basque roots. Their album Bizi eta Ixo!! (2025) confirms a band unafraid to process voices, break genres and speak their mind.
